I guess when you read negative reviews about Doteasy online, no one ever post the Positive ones. I have been a Doteasy client for several years and several websites and have had very few problems. The longest response was still better & faster than all other hosting companies that I have used. When I have moved one of my domains to Doteasy, it was the original hosting company who "allowed" me to unlock the domain name online, but actual kept it locked for several weeks. The website indicated it was unlocked, but it was locked. It took several email and calls to get them to release the "real lock". Doteasy responded in a very timely manner, track the problem and when the name was unlocked had the site ready for upload my data with in hours.

This is the kind of place where you are better off buying your one domain and getting your "free hosting". It's pretty great for anyone who only needs one domain ie. putting a blog online or something. If you want to purchase bulk domans for your server farm there are better prices elsewhere. Buyer beware indeed. Doteasy is targeted to a different market and somebody should have recognized that.

It doesn't take a genius to notice that noone gives you a free domain name and free hosting. Any where you go you're going to pay for one or the other and $25/year for what they offer is pretty good. A 24hr turn around for a response via email is pretty good considering other options out there. If you can't wait 24hrs (and they tell you stright up it will take 24hrs) call their help line!

I've been with Doteasy for 4 years. Now that I have my own servers, and 24 domains it seems redundant to use Doteasy any longer. While I might not have a "server farm", I do have a couple of nice cows! If you think Doteasy is expensive, you should see what I charge!

I purchased a domain from a DotEasy customer. I sent a transfer request which was denied because they have it locked up. These guys then told the seller that I had to open an account in order to get the domain. I even attempted to do this, but thank god I saw this post. They tried to charge me $25 for hosting even though I have a huge server farm. Then they want to charge THREE TIMES what a domain costs elsewhere. A total rip-off - complete sleazebags. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID. BUYER BEWARE. Too bad they can't keep clients on good customer service rather than by force.

This is the worse web hosting i have ever seen.
Unprofessional customer support "Almost doesn't exixst" , lot of downtime, expensive, they say that it's free and it's not, you pay $30 for the domain name while you can get it for $8 somewhere else. They advertise themselves in your outgoing emails. Most of the importnat features are not available in their free hosting. Liar they never pay your commission when you refer a client. I consider myself an idiot since they fooled me once :)

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID for these reasons:

1. they try to sell you domain locking during domain registrations, but they lock all domains by default anyway, so that they're hrader to transfer away. this is a sleazy, deceptive and unethical business practice.

2. Even if you move your hosting and have nothing hosted there, you still have an account! they will add services to that account- the one you thought was closed- and the services will eb initially free, but then they will start charging you crazy money for some dumb service like email spam/virus protection, even when you're not using their email servers for email!!!!

3. It's brutally difficult to transfer away form doteasy, which sucks. It took me a couple of weeks of emails to get them to unlock my domains. Similar problems with cancelling the "account".

4. They do not have PHONE SUPPORT. There's nobody to call for support or a quick resoution to your problem.

The people who run doteasy are crooks. They will charge your credit card unexpected fees whenever they feel like it. Avoid getting a hosting account with them because once they have your credit card on file, they use it and use it.

Please be warned that Doteasy engages in illegal and unfair business practices. Because they are based in Canada, it is very hard for U.S. customers to get justice.

The biggest scam that Doteasy engages in is automatically enrolling its users in a $95 upgrade. You find out that you have been "upgraded" when the charge appears on your credit card, and you can't stop the upgrade or get your money back.

It is my pleasure to have doteasy to host my company web site. I feel that it is worth to pay US $90 for 5 years domain and US $95.40 for hosting service. I can upload all my product photos to my web site without any additional service charge (before I had to pay additional storage space with my previous hosting company which I need edto pay US$25 more every month). With doteasy, I save a lot of money and time.

I hosted my personal site there for several years.... Seems good, bandwidth limitations, but i just needed a low traffic web presence for free and that i had.... Mail server just today i noticed it is down, and i see other people experienced that too... But overall it's good, I had no other banner-free hosting offers in view when i was registering with them ....

I get really p&%$£d at companies who advertise as 'free' but have expensive catches.

Doteasy have not the most reliable hosting servers I've seen. Especially with the e-mails. I've often waited more than 24h before getting an e-mail!!!

DotEasy claims that they have free webshosting, but when I tried to signup they forced me to move my domain to them at a much higher price than market value. Buyer beware!
